Bedding

Measure your duvet, not your mattress. A cover is sold to match a duvet: 140 × 200 for single, 200 × 200 for double, 240 × 220 for king. Everything is in the dimensions guide, measured after washing.

Linen if you sleep warm and do not mind a crease. Brushed cotton if you find linen cool in January. Percale if you want crisp and cool and are willing to iron it damp. Those three cover almost everyone.

Yes — it is stonewashed twice before it ships. It keeps softening for around two years and then levels off. It does not need a season of use to become pleasant, which is the usual complaint about linen bought elsewhere.

Sleep in the bedding for up to 30 nights, wash it, and if it is wrong send it back for a full refund. Returned bedding is not resold — it is laundered and donated — which is why the trial is limited to once per household per size.

For the pale shades, yes; they are shade-matched across the bedding, tablecloth and napkins. For clay, rosewood and the two dark slates, a later order can be half a shade off because linen is piece-dyed in batches.

Bath

Grams per square metre — how much cotton is in the towel. Higher is not automatically better: 800 gsm towels do not finish drying in a normal bathroom. We stop at 600 for that reason.

The waffle, at about two hours, then the linen-cotton. The 600 gsm terry takes overnight. If your bathroom has no window, buy the waffle.

Because linen is, for about five washes. Then it softens into the best towel in the range. We put this in the product description because the alternative is a return in week one.

Fabric softener. It leaves a film on the loops. Run them once at 60 °C with 100 ml of white vinegar and no detergent, then never use softener again. There is more on the care page.

Ceramics & candles

All of it, plus microwave and oven safe to 220 °C — it is fired to 1,240 °C and vitrified. What breaks it is thermal shock: a hot dish into cold water, or a cold one into a hot oven.

No, it is slip-cast, and we say so. The variation between pieces is in the glaze rather than the forming. Anyone selling hand-thrown stoneware at this price is not.

Not exactly. The glaze reacts differently on every piece, so a replacement will be in the same colourway but not an identical match. Buy the set size you want up front if that matters.

Tunnelling, caused by a first burn that was too short to melt the full diameter. Burn a new candle for two to three hours the first time. Once it has tunnelled it cannot be corrected.

They are measured, not estimated: time to a 5 mm residue on a two-hour burn cycle with the wick trimmed to 5 mm. Burn longer sessions and you will get less.

Orders & returns

Before 14:00 CET on a working day, the same afternoon; after that, the next morning. Tracking arrives when the label is printed.

Photograph it in the box before unpacking any further and email us. We replace it and you do not need to send the pieces back.

30 days on everything, and 30 nights on bedding which may come back washed and used. Towels need to be unwashed with the band on; ceramics and candles unused.

To the UK, Switzerland and Norway. Import duty and local VAT are charged by the carrier on delivery in those three and are not included in the price here.
